Over the past 2 weeks the Preschool 2 children at RisingOaks Early Learning | John Sweeney have been settling beautifully into our preschool environment. It has been wonderful to see their confidence grow as they become familiar with the classroom, their educators, and their new friends. Through play, exploration, and everyday routines, the children are beginning to feel comfortable, safe, and connected.
We have been offering a variety of playful experiences to support this adjustment and encourage meaningful learning. During our playdough experiences, the children have enjoyed squeezing, rolling, flattening, and shaping the dough. These simple actions help strengthen their fine-motor muscles while also encouraging creativity, imagination, and concentration.
Our balance activities have given the children opportunities to practice coordination, body awareness, and gross-motor skills. As they walk, step, stretch, and move through different challenges, they are developing confidence in what their bodies can do and learning to persevere when something feels challenging.
The children have also been enjoying painting and other creative experiences, where they can freely explore colours, textures, and different ways of expressing their ideas. These experiences allow each child to make choices and share their unique creativity.
Through block play, the children have been building, stacking, experimenting, and working alongside one another. Block play supports problem-solving, spatial awareness, communication, and cooperation. It has also created wonderful opportunities for children to interact with their peers and begin forming friendships.
Most importantly, these experiences are helping us build trusting relationships and a strong sense of belonging. We are getting to know each child's interests, personality, strengths, and ways of communicating. We celebrate their small steps—from joining an activity, trying something new, sharing materials, asking for help, or simply feeling comfortable enough to explore.
It has been a joy to watch the children grow in confidence and become more engaged in their preschool experience. We look forward to continuing to provide playful opportunities that support their development while
